Why I Love Mondays (and You Can Too)

It's Monday--the start of the work week for many of us. Do you have joy in your step, or are you dragging your bum back into your work responsibilities?

I have come to love Mondays because I protect it on my calendar. I do not book any client coaching calls, so that I have the day to enjoy working ON my business (which I love) rather than IN my business (which I also love...on Tuesday-Friday!)

Are you consciously planning and designing your Mondays?

Mondays are traditionally a grind day--where many of us have to force ourselves back into work mode after a nice weekend with family, friends and at home.

Does it really have to be this way, or is there something you can do?

As a spiritual life coach who specializes in helping people design their next joyful chapter of life, I always work on the premise that we have the freedom to consciously design our lives in ways that work best for us. I do not believe we were put on this earth to suffer. I think we came here to create, enjoy, and expand. So how best can each of us do that?

As a triple Cancer (Sun, Mercury, and Saturn), I relish quiet time to charge my batteries, and with my moon in Leo and my Mars in Leo, I also need time on my schedule to be playful and creative. Starting each week with a client-free day gives me time and space to transition from the weekend into work mode. It also gives me free time to work creatively on the marketing tasks that support my business and the products and programs that make up my business and feed my creative soul.

What do you need on Mondays to help you start your week with joy, peace, excitement, or ease?

Here are a few tips to help you on your journey to blissful Mondays.

#1: Set your Monday intention.

Get clear on what you need Mondays to be for you. Quiet? Action-oriented? Productive? Social? Creative? Choose the word that works best for you.

#2: Brainstorm on ways to design and schedule your Mondays to support that intention.

For example, if you desire more quiet time on Monday, look into putting a moratorium on Monday work or client meetings, or at least keeping them to a minimum. If you desire social time to help you get energized for the week, maybe you want to start Monday morning walking with a neighbor or set a running lunch date with friends or work colleagues every Monday. I speak to a good friend of mine at 11AM every Monday and we peer coach each other in our respective small businesses, and laugh together along the way. It's a great way to start the week, and gives me the perfect balance of social time and quiet time on Mondays.

#3: Make a Monday routine and protect it.

Once you are clear on how you want to spruce up your Monday schedule so you look forward to it, come up with a plan that you can consistently follow without having to rethink it every week. For example, since I have a "no client" rule for Monday, my online scheduler is set up to only accept client appointments Tuesday-Friday. In addition, if a client asks me to schedule on Monday, I already know about my "no-client" Monday's, so it's easy to say no. What plans can you make now to ensure that you are able to enjoy your consciously designed Mondays? If you don't have the same freedom as as I do, based on your work and life responsibilities, what ways CAN you still design your Mondays to be supportive to you?

I encourage you to do your brainstorming for your joyful Mondays when you are feeling relaxed, hopeful and positive to help you be open-minded, creative, and successful. It's hard to create something new when you are feeling pessimistic, hopeless, or irritable. Head to your favorite coffee shop with a journal, or turn on some favorite music and brainstorm with a favorite beverage by your side. Brainstorm over the weekend, or over the phone with a friend who always has a supportive perspective.

And if you find that this method doesn't work for you, ask yourself--do you need a bigger life redesign than simply on Mondays? It's possible it's time for a new job, a new career, or a life overhaul where you release responsibilities or change up your identity in order to bring in the new life you crave.

If you would like a partner on that journey, I am here. Check out my new online scheduler and book a coaching time that works well for you. Or pick up a copy of my printable astrology-based Soulful Living Planner, to help you get organized to create your soul's big dream.
