Jupiter Moved into Capricorn: The Universe Means Business

I'm an optimist, an enthusiast, and a spiritual cheerleader, but even I get grumpy at the universe sometimes. Here's my truth right now...

I'm irritated at the planets and the stars as we are smack dab in the middle of a Capricorn pile-up, and all that contracting energy can be uncomfortable.

On December 2nd, Jupiter--the joyful planet of good fortune, exploration, and expansion--moved into Capricorn, the sign of contraction. Jupiter--and free spirits like me--get a little cranky in Capricorn, as we feel stymied.

Jupiter joined Saturn, Pluto and the South Node, which were already in Capricorn.

Adding to this intensity, the Sun will join Capricorn two days before Christmas, and hang out there for a month. That's five "planets" in the sign of Capricorn, and there we have our Capricorn pile-up!

Capricorn is an energy of contraction, discipline, hard work, and seriousness. It means business.

Multiply all of that by 5 and we are all really feeling the intensity right now.

While there is much value to Capricorn's earth energy as it helps us clear out waste and get things done, when you've got so much Capricorn energy happening at once, it can be a lot to manage.

Someone close to me going through a hard time explained feeling a weight on her chest and having a sense of hopelessness.

Another friend is experiencing some health problems.

I find myself worrying more and losing the edge on my optimism.

As the days get shorter and the nights grow longer, our physical world may even seem to feel as if it is closing in on us.

Thankfully, every astrological energy has a high vibration and a low vibration.

The key to managing this intense time of Capricorn energy is to shift from the lower vibrations to the higher vibrations when you can.

Here are some ideas on how to do that:

  • If you are feeling pessimistic, step away and take a break. Sit by the fire or light some candles while you relax on your couch, and then get to bed early. While Capricorn works hard, it also knows the importance of getting a good night's rest. Tomorrow is a new day. Capricorn knows how to give a helping hand.

  • If you get stuck in your worries or your head, get out of your funk by volunteering or asking a friend if they could use your help. Give for a discrete amount of time and then get back to your own journey.

  • Set a few boundaries--say no, prioritize, get focused. Use the contracting energy of Capricorn to give you permission to trim down your to-list. What are the essentials for you this holiday season, and what can you simplify or let go?

We are all walking through this Capricorn energy together, so on the hard days, remember you are not alone.

Also know that Capricorn wants the best for you, like a wise father who tells you to do your homework before you go out and play. Work hard now; enjoy the benefits soon enough.

As with all things in the universe, the purpose of this particular energetic constellation is ultimately growth.

Capricorn is getting us there by pressuring us to get rid of what no longer works in our lives so we can move ahead and focus on what is actually serving us.

We will be feeling this Capricorn energy for several months.

For this reason the best piece of guidance I can offer you is to get clear on your top priority or two for 2020 and focus.

If you aren't clear yet on where you want to focus in 2020 due to the busyness of the holiday season, plan to carve out some time in early January to set your top goals and priorities.

I know I find myself needing some time right now to coast and get used to the shift to shorter days and colder weather before I am able to get focused on goals for the new year.
