Moon Phases by Month

Moon images provided are for the Northern Hemisphere (see the Moon Legend at the end for the Southern Hemisphere)*

*Southern Hemisphere

The moon phases in the Southern hemisphere happen on the same date as the moon phases in the Northern hemisphere, but they appear in the sky as visually "flipped" 180 degrees (on a vertical axis) as compared to the images shown on the moon phase calendars above. So when the moon is lit on the left side in the Northern hemisphere, it will be lit on the right side in the Southern hemisphere. See the Moon Legend below for more details
